HOLY SHIT LEIA’S A DISNEY PRINCESS NOW
Hence this sketch. I tried to combine the Disney princess sensibility, with Star Wars aesthetics, and my own sense of costume design. I looked at Padme Amidala’s costumes from the prequels (mainly this one here from “Attack of the Clones” and the purple senatorial gown, which you can see here), as well as Dutch baroque gowns from the 1660s. Also, there’s Belle’s off the shoulder collar for inspiration. So I guess the end result can be best described as… Disney Space Baroque.
I imagine this is Leia’s wedding dress; and while she’s on her way to the space cathedral (or something), somehow havoc has broken out. So she’s armed herself with her trusty blaster, as she is the #1 best shot in the galaxy. Go Leia!
